RomoCoat 1860 FAST DRYING ANTI-CORROSIVE ALKYD PAINT
Single‑Pack Quick Drying Anti‑Corrosive Alkyd Topcoat (Zinc Chromate Pigmented)
Product description
RomoCoat Fast Drying Paint is a single‑pack, solvent‑borne, quick‑air‑drying QD alkyd topcoat containing anti‑corrosive zinc chromate pigments. It is designed as a general‑purpose industrial enamel for protecting and decorating metal surfaces exposed to normal industrial atmospheric conditions.

Typical applications
General‑purpose anti‑corrosive finish for:
- Structural and fabrication steel: beams, channels, angles, platforms, ladders, handrails and general plant steel in mild to moderately corrosive atmospheres.
- Machinery and equipment: shop‑fabricated machines, small process equipment, guards, supports, frames, racks, trolleys and handling equipment.
- Storage & utility items: cabinets, lockers, gates, fencing, poles, scaffolding and general indoor/outdoor metalwork.
- Automotive/agri/ancillary fabrications: trailers, agricultural implements, small vehicle bodies and accessories where quick turnaround and low‑cost protection are required.
- As a single or finishing coat over compatible primers (e.g. synthetic red oxide / zinc chromate) in workshops and job‑coaters needing fast handling and recoating.
Limitations (to mention on PDS):
- Not recommended for severe coastal/marine C4–C5 or heavy chemical/immersion service; in such cases, use epoxy/PU systems.

Surface Preparation
- Substrate / previous coat must be dry, clean and free from oil, grease, dust, rust, mill scale and other contaminants.
- Bare steel:
- Ideally primed with compatible anti‑corrosive primer (e.g. synthetic red oxide or zinc chromate primer) before application of Rosalee Fast Drying Paint for improved corrosion resistance.
- For direct‑to‑metal situations, steel must be properly cleaned (hand/power tool cleaning or blast to Sa 2 where specified).
- Previously painted surfaces:
- Remove loose and flaking paint, rust and contaminants; feather edges.
- Roughen sound old coatings by sanding to provide a good key before recoating.
Application
- Methods: air spray, brush.
- Thinner: RP Fast Drying Thinner (or specified QD alkyd thinner) for viscosity adjustment.
- Flash point: above 30 °C.
Application guidance
- Stir thoroughly before use to ensure uniform dispersion of zinc chromate and other pigments.
- Adjust viscosity with Rosalee Fast Drying Thinner for spray; avoid over‑thinning to maintain DFT and hiding power.
- Apply in thin, even coats; do not attempt very high film build in a single coat to avoid sagging.
- For better durability, use:
- 1 coat of anti‑corrosive primer → 1–2 coats Rosalee Fast Drying Paint to achieve total DFT 60–80 µm.
Storage
General structural steel (indoor / covered outdoor)
- 1 x synthetic zinc chromate / red oxide primer (30–40 µm).
- 1–2 x Rosalee Fast Drying Paint (each 30–40 µm).
Light outdoor machinery / fabrications (mild industrial)
- 1 x red oxide / zinc chromate primer.
- 2 x Rosalee Fast Drying Paint.
Health & Safety
- Avoid inhalation of solvent vapour and paint mist; avoid contact with skin and eyes. Use suitable PPE (gloves, goggles, appropriate respiratory protection) as per local and national regulations.
- Ensure good/forced ventilation when working in confined or poorly ventilated spaces.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke while using the product. Wash hands and exposed skin after use.
Storage
- Store in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated place away from direct sunlight, heat and sources of ignition.
- Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.
- Shelf life: typically 12 months in unopened original containers under recommended storage conditions (check batch label/COA).
