RomoCoat Aluminium Paint – Dual Container
RomoCoat Aluminium Paint Dual Container is a two‑pack, air‑drying aluminium finish (aluminium paste + medium packed separately) that gives a bright, lustrous, corrosion‑resistant coating for exterior and interior steel.
Product description
- Dual‑pack system where aluminium paste and medium are supplied separately and mixed immediately before application to maximize metallic lustre and leafing effect.
- Forms a durable, flexible, lustrous aluminium film with good corrosion resistance, Mild heat resistance, hardness and adhesion on properly primed or prepared steel.

Typical applications
Primary uses
- Structural steel: roof trusses, columns, gantries, platform steel, sheds and general structural steelwork in industrial and coastal atmospheres.
- Electrical transmission towers and poles: lattice towers, lighting poles, sub‑station structures and line hardware where a reflective, weather‑resistant finish is desired over primers or galvanizing.
- Storage tanks: external surfaces of oil, fuel, petrochemical and water tanks; aluminium film reflects heat and reduces temperature rise of tank shell.
Other suitable areas
- Bridges and infrastructure: railway/road bridges, walkways, guardrails and lamp posts for long‑term metallic protection.
- Industrial equipment & fabrications: air coolers, ducts, chimneys, stacks, silos, conveyors, metal roofs, grills, gates and machinery housings.
- Galvanised and previously painted steel (with suitable primer/roughening) where a decorative metallic look plus extra protection is required.
Note: RomoCoat Aluminium Paint has mild heat resistance (typically up to about 200–250 °C) and act as good heat reflectors on sun‑exposed steel and tanks

Surface Preparation
- The surface / previous coat must be completely dry, clean and free from oil, grease, dust, rust, mill scale and other contaminants.
- Recommended: abrasive blast cleaning to Sa 2½ (ISO 8501‑1 Swedish standard) for new steel prior to primer and aluminium finish.
- If blasting is not possible: remove loose rust and old paint by power/hand tools and ensure a sound, firm base; apply suitable anti‑corrosive primer before aluminium paint for best durability.
- On old coated surfaces: remove all loose/flaking material and chalking; roughen sound coating before application to ensure good adhesion.
Application guidance
- Mix aluminium paste thoroughly into the medium immediately before application; use the recommended paste:medium ratio (e.g. 1:3–1:4 by weight/volume as per your internal standard) and stir until uniform metallic consistency is obtained.
- Apply in thin, even coats; avoid heavy film build to maintain good leafing/brightness and prevent sagging.
- Ensure good agitation during application to keep aluminium flakes uniformly suspended.
- For best protection, use over an appropriate anti‑corrosive primer (e.g. alkyd zinc chromate / red oxide); system DFT 60–80 µm or as per project spec.
Health & Safety
- Avoid inhalation of solvent vapour and paint mist; avoid contact with skin and eyes. Use suitable PPE (gloves, goggles, respirator) according to local and national regulations.
- Provide forced ventilation when applying in confined or poorly ventilated spaces.
- Keep away from sources of ignition; follow MSDS/label instructions for handling and first aid.
Storage
- Store in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated place away from direct sunlight, heat and ignition sources.
- Keep both aluminium paste and medium containers tightly closed when not in use to prevent skinning and solvent loss.
- Use mixed material within the recommended working time (generally within a few hours) to maintain maximum lustre.
