RomoCoat ZINC RICH EPOXY PRIMER-1265

RomoCoat ZINC RICH EPOXY PRIMER-1265

RomaCoat Zinc Rich Epoxy Primer 1265 is a two‑pack metallic zinc‑rich epoxy primer designed as a high‑performance first coat for aggressive, highly corrosive environments.

What this primer is

  • Two‑component epoxy primer with metallic zinc dust as the main pigment, giving strong cathodic (sacrificial) protection to steel.
  • Used as the first coat in heavy‑duty anti‑corrosive systems for new construction and maintenance.

Where it is typically used

  • Offshore and marine: jackets, platforms, jetties, splash zone steel and coastal structures.
  • Petrochemical and oil & gas: process structures, pipe racks, tank externals, refineries and terminals.
  • Bridges and infrastructure: highway and railway bridges, flyovers and exposed structural steel.
  • Power plants and heavy industry: boiler structures, chimneys, conveyors, cranes and general plant steelwork.

Key surface preparation & application notes

  • Zinc‑rich coatings are porous; to reduce pinholes in the next coat, first apply a light mist coat, allow air to escape, then apply a full coat.
  • If left exposed too long without topcoat, white rust (zinc corrosion products) will form and must be removed before overcoating.
  • Steel must be dry, clean and abrasive‑blasted (typically Sa 2 for radiators, Sa 2½ for tanks); old coatings must be roughened sufficiently before applying this primer.

Health, safety and storage (short)

  • Avoid inhalation of solvent vapour/paint mist and contact with skin/eyes; ensure forced ventilation in confined or stagnant areas and use PPE as per local regulations.
  • Store in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated place; keep containers tightly closed and protected from direct sunlight and heat.
